The oppressive heat and humidity is causing serious health problems for many people who are affected by respiratory problems, other health issues, or advanced age. Air conditioners can be provided for Bergen County residents who secure a prescription from a health care provider indicating the need for this assistance, and whose income is limited.
The Special Needs Assistance program (SNAP) at Heightened Independence & Progress (HIP) can assist with payment for air conditioners in a prompt manner through funding provided by the Bergen County Department of Human Services. A simple process will result in payment to assist during the summer high temperatures.
Additional services which are disability related can be funded through SNAP as well.
