On February 24, 2017, representatives from SUEZ met with the Borough of Oradell officials to discuss Oradell Dam emergency response measures. Representatives from Bergen County Office of Emergency Management were also present. The purpose of the meeting was to address local residents' concerns regarding dam safety, following the recent spillway erosion events at the Oroville Dam in Oroville, California.
SUEZ representatives and borough officials reviewed the well-established emergency action plan and emergency measures for SUEZ' dams in New Jersey. SUEZ representatives also detailed the improvements made to Oradell Dam, and other Dams, and discussed current, ongoing studies.
Late last year, SUEZ performed a dam safety tabletop exercise, at which Oradell OEM representatives were present. In general, SUEZ representatives reassured Oradell officials that all emergency measures for the Oradell Dam are well established and well tested.
