Train Accident at Hoboken Terminal

The most recent updates regarding this morning’s NJ Transit derailment have not changed. There has been one confirmed fatality and 79 reported injuries.

A family re-unification point has been set up at 20 Craven Point, Jersey City. A hotline for families has been established 855-336-1774 .

The cause of the accident is still under investigation and the National Transportation Safety Board’s “Ready Team" has been dispatched from Washington. .

NJ Transit is working to restore power for the Ferry operations and the PATH trains will be running full service for tonight’s commute.

Beginning at approximately 4 p.m. the following service will be in effect: Main, Bergen, Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines will operate on a modified weekend schedule originating/terminating in Secaucus.

Buses will shuttle customers from Hoboken to Secaucus Junction on a load and go basis. Customers will be directed to this service by ambassadors wearing safety vests.

Customers who need to access Secaucus are urged to take trains from New York Penn Station.

Customers may experience overcrowding and possible delays caused by congestion.

Please stay tuned to local news outlets for additional information

Update: PATH trains for this evening's commute are EXPECTED to be at full service.  Also, NJ Transit will expand bus service.

Update:  Regarding NJ Transit Train Incident this morning, please contact New Jersey Transit Inquiry Line at 855-336-1774 .

We are aware of the train accident at the Hoboken terminal involving the Pascack Valley line earlier this morning (9/29/16).  We have reached out to NJ Transit as well as Bergen and Hudson county officials and emergency services to gather information.  As the borough receives the information, we will continue to update you.

Train service --- NJ Transit, PATH and light rail --- is suspended.  NJ Transit is cross honoring tickets so those who normally take the train can take the bus.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by this terrible accident.
